Muirfield Village Design Review Applications and Guidelines

All properties in Muirfield Village are bound by the design standards set forth in the Declaration (Warranty Deed). Per the Declaration, all exterior property additions, changes, removals, or any type of exterior construction to any part of any Muirfield property must be approved in writing by the Design Control Committee before any work begins.

When an owner wishes to make changes to the property, the plans must be reviewed by the MDCC before the project begins. The MDCC meets bi-monthly.

Owners must submit 2 complete application packets to the Association office. The applications must include applicable drawings, brochures, samples, colors and any other pertinent information.

Applications received by the Association office by 12:00 p.m. the Friday prior to the meeting date will be included on the agenda for the upcoming meeting. Applications received after that time will be placed on the agenda for the following meeting. Applications must be submitted timely to obtain the earliest possible response.

Bring or mail the completed plan, payment, and the materials the plan requests to the Association office at 8372 Muirfield Drive, Dublin, Ohio 43017.

Additions & Remodeling Download in PDF format
Use for additions to the house, exterior remodeling and room additions that affect the exterior of the property, adding a mother-in-law suite, and additions to an existing garage. There is a separate application for a sunroom, screened in porch, or Florida room and separate applications for sheds and a detached garage or other large storage building.

Air Conditioning Download in PDF format
Use for the addition or relocation of any HVAC unit: air conditioning unit, generator, or heat pump.

Awning Download in PDF format
Use to add or change awnings on the house.

Basketball Equipment Download in PDF format
Use to add a basketball unit.

Compost Bin Download in PDF format
Use to place a compost bin on the property.

Deck Download in PDF format
Use to add or change a deck, including decking material, railings, deck location, seat walls, etc. (Note: simply replacing rotted wood with fresh wood that will be painted or stained the same color does not require approval. However, changing out rotted wood for composite material does require approval.)

Doors Download in PDF format
Use to add or change a door on the house (entrance, service, storm, patio, French, screen doors, and door sidelights) There is a separate application for garage doors.

Driveway Download in PDF format
Use to change a driveway, including changes to shape, dimensions, materials, pavers, etc.

Egress Window Download in PDF format
Use to add an egress window to the home.

Exterior Remodeling Download in PDF format
Use for additions to the house, exterior remodeling, room additions that affect the exterior of the property, adding a mother-in-law suite, and garage additions that are attached to the house. There is a separate application for a sunroom, screened in porch, or Florida room and separate applications for sheds and a detached garage or other storage building. No approval from Muirfield is needed for interior remodeling.

Fence/Screening Download in PDF format
Use for fencing and screening. Invisible fences for dogs do not need approval; however, they must be contained in the buildable area of the lot and no signage is permitted. Invisible fence flags are permitted for two to three weeks to determine if the fence is working.

Fire Pit Download in PDF format
Use this application to place a gazebo, pergola, trellis, firepit or retaining wall on the property. It is not necessary to file this form if firepit is included on another plan being filed(such as a patio or landscaping plan).

Fireplace (free standing) Download in PDF format
Use this application to add an outdoor kitchen, pizza oven, and/or free standing fireplace.

Garage(Detached) Download in PDF format
Use this application for a detached/free standing garage or any detached storage building, but there is a different application to install a shed.

Garage Door Download in PDF format
Use to replace or add garage doors.

Gazebo Download in PDF format
Use this application to place a gazebo, pergola, trellis, firepit or retaining wall on the property.

Generator Download in PDF format
Use this form for the addition or relocation of any HVAC Unit: air conditioning unit, generator, or heat pump.

Grading Download in PDF format
Use to make any grading changes to the yard and/or landscaping.

Heat Pump Installation Download in PDF format
Use this form for the addition or relocation of any HVAC Unit: air conditioning unit, generator, or heat pump.

Hot Tub/Spas Download in PDF format
Use for the installation of any hot tub, whirlpool, Jacuzzi, or spa unit.

Landscaping Download in PDF format
Use to make changes or additions to the home's landscaping, including ornamental trees in landscaping beds. There is a separate form that covers only tree removal and replacement and another form that covers just vegetable gardens. Do not send any fee in with this plan since the fee is based on the scope of the work.

Lighting Download in PDF format
Use to submit any additions or changes to exterior lighting, including landscape lighting fixtures.

Miscellaneous Exterior Projects Download in PDF format
Use for miscellaneous projects including screens, soffit, fascia, gutters, downspouts, gutter guards, chimney work, foundation work, miscellaneous storage, and/or other exterior accessories (statuary, birdbaths, etc.)

New Home Construction Download in PDF format
Use to submit a plan to build a new home.

Outdoor Kitchen Download in PDF format
Use this application to add an outdoor kitchen, pizza oven, and/or free standing fireplace.

Use when replacing the roof. Patching and partial replacements are prohibited.

Use to place a satellite dish on the property.

Use to place a shed on the property. There is a separate application for a detached/free standing garage or any other large storage building.

Use to add or change shutters on the house.

Siding or Exterior Finishes Download in PDF format
Use to change siding or other exterior finishes. Simply replacing a few rotted wood boards with fresh wood to be painted the same color does not require approval.

Signs
Signage in Muirfield Village is very limited. Real Estate Agencies posting a house for sale, property owner advertising a house For Sale by Owner, and/or builders posting new home construction may display signs prepared according the Definition of a Standard Sign without prior written authorization from the Muirfield Design Control Committee (MDCC). Other signs are prohibited. Read the signage policy here.

Skylights Download in PDF format
Use to add or change skylights. "Sun tunnels" are not permitted.

Solar Energy Collection Device Download in PDF format

Sports Nets/Equipment Download in PDF format
Use for large sports nets such as lacrosse nets and soccer nets. There are different applications for swingsets/playsets, basketball units, and trampolines.

Storage Building (other than a Shed) Download in PDF format
Use this application for a detached/free standing garage or any detached storage building, but there is a different application to install a shed.

Sunroom/Screened Porch Download in PDF format
Use for any sunroom, screened in porch, or Florida room.

Use to place a temporary tent on the property for special occasions.

Tree Removal & Replacement Download in PDF format
Use to remove any tree over 6" caliper and to add any tree to the landscaping. This includes ornamental trees used in landscaping beds, although it is not necessary to put in a separate tree plan if trees are being included on a landscaping plan.

Use this application to place a gazebo, pergola, trellis, firepit or retaining wall on the property.

Vegetable/Fruit Garden Download in PDF format
Use to add a seasonal vegetable/fruit garden to the property.
