LARGE SPORTS EQUIPMENT GUIDELINES

When to use these guidelines and application: use for permanent or seasonal placement of large sports nets such as lacrosse nets and soccer nets that cannot be moved or stored easily.

Under regular design guidelines, nets, toys and other sports equipment may only be used on properties when the equipment is actively being used. It must then be stored inside a concealed structure, such a a garage, when not in use. For large items that an owner wishes to leave out, this application can be submitted to request placement for seasonal or permanent use.

There are different applications for basketball units, trampolines and swingsets, playsets and forts,

After reading the guidelines below, download and submit the application, which includes a list of information and materials to submit:

GUIDELINES FOR OVERSIZED SPORTS EQUIPMENT

Nearly all sports nets fall into the category of intermittently used recreation equipment, requiring that they be stored inside or on a patio or deck when not being used. There are few instances where an owner may request approval for an oversize, permanently-placed sport net. Since a small variety of larger sports nets, like lacrosse goals and soccer nets are difficult to move in and out with use, the Design Control Committee has chosen to consider allowing a permanent outside location for them with specific screening and location requirements. An application must be submitted for the MDCC’s review and approval prior to placing the equipment on the property. Please use the diagram below as an example of what to submit to the committee for review.
