EMPLOYMENT AT MUIRFIELD - LIFEGUARD

Job Description:
Title: LIFEGUARD
Department(s): RECREATIONAL
Reports to: POOL MANAGER

Job summary: Oversees the aquatic complex to reasonably ensure the safety of patrons of the facility.

Summary of essential job functions:

• Monitors activities at the pool.
• Monitors swimmers in the pool.
• Administers First Aid as needed.
• Follows emergency action plan and procedures established in the event of an emergency.
• Cautions attendees regarding unsafe practices and safety hazards.
• Enforces and adheres to pool rules and regulations.
• Maintains order in the pool and adjoining areas.
• Inspects and maintains facilities for cleanliness and safety.
• Completes general pool cleaning and maintenance duties.
• Responsible for the availability, maintenance and safekeeping of emergency equipment.
• Provides general information on pool operation to patrons.
• May teach swim lessons.
• Completes required paperwork.
• Presents professional appearance and attitude at all times.
• Maintains high standard of customer service.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum requirements: Must possess current Lifeguard Certification, First Aid Training and CPR certificate upon employment.

Abilities required:

• Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
• Skilled swimmer with abilities in the application of lifeguarding and rescue techniques.
• Knowledge of CPR and emergency medical procedures.
• Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions.
• Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures.
• Ability to prepare routine administrative paperwork.
• Knowledge of pool equipment, sanitation and maintenance.
• Ability to apply the rules and regulation governing conduct at the facility.

How to Apply for a Lifeguard Position

1. Save the Employment Application to your computer.
   Click the link to open it and then save it to your computer. You can also right-click the link and choose "Save link as" or "Save target as". Blank employment applications are available at the Association office if you are not able to complete this on a computer..

IMPORTANT!

You must have Adobe Acrobat Reader or another PDF program installed to open the employment application.

Completed applications may be simply printed off and mailed to the Association. However, if you want to be able to SAVE your completed application so you can email it to the Association, you MUST have Adobe Reader X (or later) installed. If you do not have Adobe, you can download it free from http://get.adobe.com/reader/.

Mac users: By default, PDF files open in Mac Preview. However, the only way to save your application is to open it in Adobe Reader. If you fill out the application in Mac Preview, your data will not be saved. If email the application to us, it will arrive blank, which means you will need to fill out another application. Use Adobe Reader X or later instead of Mac Preview to avoid problems.


If you can't download Adobe Reader X or later, you can still download, print, and complete the application by hand and mail or bring it to the Association office. If you can't download the application at all, please visit the Association office and pick up a blank application.


2. Once the application has downloaded, open the file using Adobe Reader X or later.
   You must use Adobe Reader X or later if you want to save your application. Mac Preview and PDF readers other than Adobe X or later will not work!
   
   
3. Fill in both pages of the application as completely as possible.
   
   
4. Save your application.
   Make sure you save your application so you don't lose everything you typed.
   
   
5. Email the completed application to chris@muirfieldassociation.com.
   If you are not able to email the application, you can mail or bring it to the Association office at:

Once your application is received, the pool manager will review it and contact those candidates who best qualify for the position.
