Report on January HOA Board Meeting

At our bimonthly HOA Board Meeting this past week, Board Treasurer Pam Ellinger, CPA, informed Members of an updated accounting system now being employed by our staff, and Board President Dr. Bob Fathman thanked her for her expertise and many hours spent making alterations to procedures. Outside auditing firms also revue the systems annually, and the Board changes firms about every 5 years.

General Manager Walter Zeier reported that in 2021 over 700 homeowners had submitted plans for approval to the Design Assistance Committee, the second highest number ever, with an 87% approval rate. There was a bump in submittals following the free Home Improvement Seminar sponsored by the Board in November, and Board Member Paula Linehan, organizer of the seminars, reported that the next such event in the series, focused on Landscaping and Outdoor Living, is set for March 9. Registration information and details on presenters will be sent out later. Ms. Linehan, a Realtor, also updated the Board with home sales info in Muirfield as follows: 110 homes sold in Muirfield in 2021, at a median sales price that was up 16% over the prior year, and homes were on the market an average of only 5 days, a record, cutting in half the time compared to the prior year. As of last week, there are only 6 homes for sale in Muirfield out of 2,400.. Listing price varies widely, from $320,000 to $5,000,000.

Board President Dr. Bob Fathman reported that the three incumbent Board Members whose terms expire next April have all expressed their decision to run for re-election: John Reiner, Marilee Chinnici-Zuercher and Diana Evans. Info on how to apply for election is sent out in early March. Board Member Tom Oleksa will Chair the 3-member nominating Committee.

Recruiting for life guards for our pools has begun with notice sent to all residents via email, and social media of various sorts will also be employed. All pools in Central Ohio experienced severe staffing shortages last year, with some not opening, some opening a month late and some closing early or limiting hours. Once again, we will not be offering swim lessons this season due to the shortage of staff. Guests will be allowed to accompany residents just like last year, for the same $5/daily fee. and nanny passes will be available for sale.

Friendly reminder -- the City asks that when snow and ice are anticipated that residents make every effort to get all vehicles off the streets and into drives to facilitate city crews working all night to make our roads passable and safe.

Wishing you a very healthy 2022,,and success tonight to the US Men's National [soccer] Team playing a World Cup Qualifying match in Columbus tonight vs. El Salvador
