Muirfield Association is pleased to pass on the following information regarding the FORE! Miler race. Please read to be aware of planned road closures. View this letter and map (the map is on page 3).

Dear Muirfield Resident,

The 2nd Annual FORE! Miler presented by OhioHealth returns Thursday, May 26 at 7 pm.

The race will follow a route that starts and ends at Muirfield Village Golf Club, located at 5750 Memorial Drive, and includes Memorial Drive, Avery Road, Brand Road, Muirfield Drive and Kinross Court.

Now in its second year, improvements have been made for the runners, spectators and local motorists. We would specifically like to point out:

This letter is just one of many ways we are notifying residents of the road closures and the opportunity to participate as a runner or spectator. Information also is being shared through social media, websites, the Dublin Villager and other neighborhood associations. Please feel free to contact [email protected] with any questions or concerns, or visit www.foremiler.com for updates and information. If you would like to contact the City of Dublin send an email to [email protected].

Temporary Road Closures

With 3,000 participants anticipated, a big community event such as this affects all of the surrounding neighborhoods, and we appreciate your support and understanding. Traffic will be temporarily detoured around all race areas from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. on a rolling basis. The City of Dublin Police Department will provide traffic control during the race. Please speak to an officer on site if you require assistance. Officers will be able to provide detour information if needed and will strive to permit vehicular traffic to cross closed intersections when such an action can be safely accomplished.

We invite you to join us in this community focused event. Help cheer on the runners or register to run or walk at www.foremiler.com We are extending to you a $5 discount for the event by using the code “RUNFOREDUBLIN”.

Buyer Beware… Solicitations in Muirfield

With spring here and summer approaching, many residents are thinking about exterior remodeling, updates, and landscaping projects. Contractors and local companies are also thinking about their warm weather business and the Association office has received reports of door to door solicitors in Muirfield Village.

If approached by a solicitor, please be aware of the following:

Door to door solicitations in Dublin are very limited. The City’s ordinance states that “No person shall engage in the business or activity of peddler or solicitor or acting on behalf of a 501C charitable organization in the City of Dublin without first obtaining a license through the Code Enforcement Office.” This means companies offering any kind of exterior remodeling work (such as replacement windows and roofing), landscaping, tree removal, or satellite/cable providers must obtain a license to solicit. Ask to see their permit. If they refuse or if you are in doubt, call the City of Dublin Development Department at 614-410-4600 or the Dublin police at 614-889-1112.

If a company claims their products or services have been approved by Muirfield, this is an entirely incorrect statement. Per the Declaration (Warranty Deed), all plans for exterior changes must be individually reviewed and approved in writing by the Design Control Committee before any work begins. Be wary of flyers and solicitors that state that something is "Approved by Muirfield". While the products or services may be approvable, there is no such thing as pre-approved exterior construction, projects, or materials.

If you start a project without approval or with non-approved materials, it will result in a deed violation. Worse yet, it could cost you time and money to correct the situation if the project is not approved by the Design Control Committee. Please save yourself headaches and get all exterior plans approved before work begins.

To get a plan approved, visit the Design Review section for applications and guidelines. Download the appropriate form for your project. Read the guidelines and form to determine what you need to submit (e.g., pictures, samples, site plan, etc.) Submit your plan with all required items to the Association office. Please remember to submit plans in duplicate.

Once submitted, plans will be reviewed at the next Design Control Committee meeting. By Deed, the Design Control Committee has 30 days to respond, however, most plans are reviewed within 10-14 days. The next few meetings are as follows (all dates can be found on our calendar):

Tuesday, June 7 - Meeting; deadline for submitting plans: Friday, June 3
Tuesday, June 21 - Meeting; deadline for submitting plans: Friday, June 17

After the plan is reviewed, watch your mail for a letter from the Association. Once your plan has been approved, feel free to go ahead with the project!

As a reminder, projects like touching up paint with the exact same color, planting of annual flowers, or replacing like-for-like (such as replacing rotten wood boards in a deck with new wood boards) do not require approval. If you are in doubt whether a project needs approval or if you have any other questions, please call the Association office at 614-889-0922 or contact us. We're happy to help!

Glick Road Path Updates

Muirfield Associations is pleased to pass on the following information from the Civic Action Committee:

Tunnel Repair Along Glick Road

Beginning on June 6, the city of Dublin will begin repair work on the two tunnels off of Glick Road (the tunnel between holes 13 and 14 and the tunnel between holes 16 and 17 of the golf course). Construction will affect the neighborhood bike path and the cart paths on the course.

Beginning June 6, 2016, temporary crosswalk locations on Glick Road will be constructed at both tunnel locations. Existing Muirfield Association asphalt path that is impacted by this project may be closed for the duration of the project. Clearing, grubbing, and tree removal may occur between June 6 and June 14 (inclusive), and after June 19, 2016.

Glick Road Shared Use Path

The City held a meeting for residents May 4 showing the exact location of the next phase of the shared use path on the south side of Glick Rd. between Davington and Muirfield Drive. Great care will be taken to protect all existing trees, though some trees will have to be limbed to allow dump trucks through. Seven new evergreens, each seven feet tall, will be installed.

This will replace the Muirfield path currently in place with a wider, flatter, improved path with the City taking over maintenance. Eventually the path will complete an east-west system from Avery to Dublin Rd. Muirfield Association has delayed tree planting along this stretch of Glick, waiting for this much delayed construction to complete. 75 to 100 new trees will be planted this fall in Muirfield, with many of these targeted to this area of Glick.

Should you have any questions or desire additional information about the Glick shared use path, please contact Project Manager Ken Richardson, PE, PS at 614-410-4631 or [email protected].

Muirfield Association is pleased to pass on the following invitation from The Country Club at Muirfield Village:

The Country Club at Muirfield Village would like to extend an invitation to Muirfield Village residents to enjoy a round of golf and lunch. Openings are available on Saturday, June 4 and on Sunday, June 5. Both days are an 8:00 a.m. shotgun start.

Pathway Use

Recently, the office has received calls from residents who have reported almost being hit by quickly moving cyclists. Last year, a resident was injured after being hit by a cyclist and subsequently required surgery for his injury.

Our paths are shared use paths, and in an effort to prevent any future injuries:
