MUIRFIELD eNEWS: NOVEMBER 25, 2018

Fire Department will change you smoke detector batteries for you, free, if you need help!

After the tragic home fires in Muirfield this month, and the e-blasts we sent out giving safety tips, one of our residents asked if our HOA could help him change his batteries, as he doesn't do ladders any longer. One of our Muirfield Association Board Members offered to go into his home and change them for the gentleman, but it led to discussions among Board Members and Muirfield Civic Action Committee Members as we looked for solutions.

And tonight I learned the problem is solved! Kudos to our Washington Township [Dublin] Fire Department and Chief Alec O'Connell! Chief O'Connell tells me that "the department will be happy to assist residents in changing smoke detector batteries at no charge by on-duty fire department members. If the residents can supply the batteries that is much appreciated, but we can also supply the batteries if necessary. There is no charge for this service and residents can contact the Fire Department administration building at 614-652-3920 to set up a time."

Whether or not you need the service, if you see one of our firepersons out in the community, lets be sure to thank them and tell them ow much we appreciate this service. And if you "don't do ladders any more" due to age, health, being height-challenged, please do avail yourselves of this great service by calling the above number. Let's all be safe out there!

One of the things my family and I are thankful for, not just at this holiday time, is that we live in such a great community. Chief O'Connell and the men and women of our Fire Department are a part of what makes Dublin exceptional.
